What is Restorative Yin Yoga? Yin and Yang are the symbol of harmony. They are the balanced masculine and feminine energies that intertwine through the body. In the west, we are most familiar usually with yang yoga practices. Yoga of action - physical work - effort. Work and effort are fun and essential to life. We must also balance our bodies with yin yoga practices. These include taking respite within oneself, quite times of reflection, and formal meditation practices. This Sunday evening class is an opportunity to devote 75 minutes to yourself; to calm the busy mind, to rest in the breath.
We hold seated and lying down postures for 5-10 minutes. In a non-heated, softly lit environment (fresh air in the summer!), the muscles can rest and the joints between our bones naturally balance. Trauma and pain is released from the nervous system and all the systems of the body shift into a more harmonious community. Inner peace is our intention.
Yin yoga is wonderful for any level student. An excellent class for advanced Bikram yogis and a great class for brand new students. Class moves slowly, the music is relaxing, and there is a spot for you. We all need the Yin to our Yang! Come enjoy a sacred space meant for rejuvenation of the body, mind and soul.
